“Open Mic Night with Mic Tha Poet” at Dolce Vita continues to grow and become more successful each Monday.

MTP would like to thank Aaron “FaSho” Hudson and Seneca “Kind of a One” Wilson for coming out last night and blessing the mic. Also, special thanks to them for making MTP the newest “Underground Poet”!

Make sure to get out to the “Underground Poetry Spot” this Thursday for the next show.

Rumor has it that there will be a special guest this week.

Eric Darby, who we have featured on the site a couple of times, might be coming through to perform.

“Eric Darby is a nationally-recognized writer and performance poet, who has competed in two Individual World Poetry Slams and five National Poetry Slams. He has been ranked in the top twenty in two NPS’s, and was one of seven National Finalists in 2005.

Eric is a past host of the Detroit and Lizard Lounge Poetry Slams. His work has been included in four spoken word anthologies and two jazz/poetry albums released by Poetry Jam/Rounder Records. His unique full length CD/chapbook project The Secret Dream-lives of Engineers was released by The Wordsmith Press in February 2006. “

This show will not be one to miss!

Kid Cudi

“so now I’m in the cut, alcohol in the wound,
my hearts an open sore and hope it heals soon,
I live in a cocoon opposite of Cancun,
where it is never sunny the dark side of the moon,
so its more than right, i try to shed some light on the man,
not many people of this planet understand.

I’ve got some issues that nobody can see
and all of these emotions are pourin’ outta me
I bring them to the light for you,
it’s only right
this is, the soundtrack to my life
the soundtrack to my life”

Cudi’s new album hit stores finally. Check out a cut that isn’t “Day N’ Nite” above.

Summer Addiction

The sun shows longer but I see the moon more

Morning light binds me;

I am face to face with the fear -

A white beam strikes me through a styled pane in a door

Which reads abandon all hope all ye entering here

Neon

Check out this month’s featured artist, “Neon”, on Art Crimes. Along with more fantastic paintings, you can read his interview. He describes growing up in Germany and the culture of style-writing there.

“I was born in 1970 in a small north Italian village. After four years my parents moved to Munich, Germany. I didn’t really like that, but what can you do at that age? Once I was able to analyze the world around me, I realized how wickedly things were arranged, how suspiciously life was organized…”
