well let me tell u a couple things…
I have alluded in tha past here on micthapoet.com to several of tha musicians in Syracuse who have embraced me with open arms…this all started when i ventured into Lisa Gentile’s MUSIC MAVERICKS…
one night, after seeing Dusty play and acquiring his second CD (yeah I got them out of order)…I sat down to do some writing while listening to Dusty play…
I never wrote a word…I sat still for tha entire length of tha disc, marinating in every sound and on tha edge of my seat for every next word…
Dusty is a poet in tha truest sense of tha word, while understanding tha term means different things to everyone…it has been a blast getting to know him and tha whole Pas’cal crew…and it was truly an honor to bring him up on stage…
i have so much love for Dusty and for Brad Thomas, and of course Lisa Gentile and all tha Maverick crew…i know i’ve said this before…but one more time saying thank you never hurts…
so I pay homage to these musicians and poets by going out to their shows and recording what they do so i can share it with you here. Enjoy
what a year 2009 has been. it is important to me that i allow you all to watch tha growth of MIC THA POET (me, lol)… I could’ve waited until i am where i want to be to start postin vids and stuff, but I want you all to see tha maturation process… I know there are a lot of people out there just like me who have built up walls around their artistic self, simply because it never seemed a viable option…music and poetry have always been my passions and i have always struggled to place myself in any one category…
i mean i grew up in tha sticks, developed a taste for R&B and hip-hop, and it never went away like all my elders told me it would…
i still have buku LOVE for tha poets i have studied throughout my years as a child and at Niagara University…
and i find myself singin along to nearly every song i hear…and if your song is inundated with beautiful language and/or a consciensous message, i usually consider it poetry…
anyway, i usually try and stay away from describing/explaining myself because there is so much of my personal experience that goes into my poetry, whether it always appears that way or not…but i thought this would be a good way to introduce you to tha MTP of 2010…jus so u kno what ur dealin with…lol!!…
i have many aliases i have been given or given myself over my writing days…i will be introducing ya’ll to tha many faces of Mic Tha Poet as we venture through this new decade…i call it my Schizophrenic Poetic Army…brace yerselves…we gonna WAR
