Oh say, do you see what I’m going through
I never knew love could be so cruel
You say it’s over, I’m not over you
I pray you’ve considered forgiving this fool
These watered down tears just do not mix
With the oil based finish they’re dripping in
And the doors I’m paid to hang have closed on me with
My chances of living and loving in bliss
Through the cracks in the walls
Where we shifted and settled
I see what time can do
And through the pleasant tasks, the stops, and the stalls;
In between the rifts and the petals,
There is only room for two
How could you love me
I don’t even know me
How could you love me
I don’t even know me
The only thing I’ve ever known is how to say I love you so
The only thing I’ll never learn is how I get to where I go
Four years circle around us – far too soon
Has it already been five? And will the full moon
Again seem to me brightest, twice, as it moves
In opposition to my depression and gloom?
This starry-eyed poet just will not quit
Reviewing the scene where lust’s meteor hit
Upon showering it’s fragments, passion’s smoldering coal chips
Branded reminders of my ignorance
How could you love me
I don’t even know me
How could you love me
I don’t even know me
The only thing I’ve ever known is how to say I love you so
The only thing I’ll never learn is how I get to where I go
